On Sunday, August 14, 2067, a mysterious earthquake occurred in the Western United States near Los Angeles, causing widespread destruction. After several weeks of confusion, it was determined that it was not a natural phenomenon but the work of rogue Chinese intelligence agents who had bounced a powerful collimated beam of polarized gravity waves off the moon.
